WESTPORT’S ACADEMY OF DANCE PRESENTS OUR WINTER 2024 GUEST CHOREOGRAPHER SHOWING

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

An evening of dance artistry as our talented Junior II, Junior Company, and Senior Company students take the stage to perform three original works choreographed by the extraordinary Tiffany Mangulabnan. This performance marks the culmination of a 7-week Master Class at The Academy, and promises to be a celebration of movement, grace, and creativity.

Tiffany Mangulabnan, a distinguished New York-based Filipino dancer, choreographer, and co-artistic director of the renowned konverjdans contemporary ballet company, brings her distinctive vision to our students.

Incorporating classical ballet technique with a unique emphasis on fluidity and expansive movement, Tiffany's choreography challenges our dancers to express themselves with agility, strength, and grace. Tiffany's work is known for conveying the feeling of being in or like water and being pushed and carried by gentle and powerful waves.

Thank you for sharing in our students' dedication and hard work alongside the artistry of our cherished guest choreographer. Enjoy the Show!

 MEET THE CHOREOGRAPHER

Tiffany Mangulabnan

Tiffany Mangulabnan is a trailblazing force in the dance world, and her contributions to the art form are nothing short of extraordinary. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Tiffany's journey began with the Philippine Ballet Theatre at the age of 20, where she quickly rose to prominence as a principal dancer.

Upon relocating to New York City in 2012, Tiffany's career reached new heights as she danced with BalletNext under the guidance of former American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet principal dancers Michele Wiles and Charles Askegard. In addition, her freelance career has been a testament to her versatility, performing with prestigious companies like The Metropolitan Opera and various contemporary and modern ballet ensembles, including Gabrielle Lamb’s Pigeonwing Dance and Gleich Dances.

Tiffany's choreography, rooted in classical ballet technique, stands out for its emphasis on fluid, large, and gooey movements and meticulous attention to detail. Her work has been showcased at esteemed venues and festivals nationwide, earning praise for its unique and captivating qualities.

We are honored to have her as our guest choreographer and look forward to sharing her inspiring work with you.
